Built with the approval of Donald Healey and the collaboration of Geoffrey Healey this car was the prototype for the successor to the Austin Healey 3000 Mk3.
Designated the Mk4 3500 and bearing chassis No.1 it was first registered in 1989, this was the car used for the launch of the new Healey and all of the subsequent press coverage, TV, newspapers and magazines all used this car, copies of which will be included in the sale, with the original Healey brochure in which it features.
?The Mk4 was a vast improvement on the Mk3 having all independent suspension, 3.5ltr,fuel injected, all alloy V8 giving 194bhp and 220 lbs/ft of torque, a 5 speed gearbox, disc brakes all around, centre lock wheels, stainless steel exhaust, a good heating and demist system, good audio system, electric heated mirrors, walnut dashboard with full instrumentation and an all leather luxury interior,this is also a 2 + 2. There is also a surprisingly spacious luggage compartment. Performance was also enhanced with 0-60mph in 5.9 secs, a top speed of 140 mph. brakes to match and excellent handling.
As the ownership of the Healey trademark was disputed by Jensen Cars and this wasn’t resolved for several years, Healey Motor Company continued trading as HMC Sportscars even though it was resolved in Geoffrey’s favour this was the only car to be registered as a Healey Mk4 and as such is unique.
All subsequent cars were badged as HMCs and these are well respected and highly sought after which are steadily increasing in value.
This car has recently been fitted with all stainless steel wheels, new tyres, has recently been serviced and will be sold with a new MOT.
F560 UDG was owned by the factory and then by one of the designers co-founders of The Healey Motor Company, Graham Holmes, until bought by the present owner. It is only offered for sale now due to ill health.
